“We are planning to stay seven hours in each emirate”, said Abdulaziz Nasser Al Monsori, the team’s captain. Each ride will go up to a height of 50 metres, offering a majestic view over the city taking around 7-10 people, depending on their weight and weather conditions.
The balloon will be specially decorated for the occasion, with the images of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, surrounded by rulers of the other six emirates. During the flights a voice recording of late Shaikh Zayed, the father of the nation, about the meaning and benefits of the federation, will be played.
“We would like to send a special message for this special day, which is: The World Will Not Forget You, Zayed”, captain Monsori told Khaleej Times, adding that the message deliberately contains seven words, to symbolise the seven emirates.
In Abu Dhabi, the hot air balloon rides will start in the late afternoon, from the Breakwater, near the UAE flag, and they will be conditioned by the weather. “If the wind is too strong we’ll have to cancel the flights, because it could be too dangerous, especially for the kids”, explained the captain.
