The emirate of Sharjah announced a new initiative, the 'Suburb of Happiness', and an award on Wednesday at a press conference.
Held in the presence of Sheikh Majid Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, director of the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs; the event was also attended by Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah police; Brigadier General Mohammad Rashid Bayat, Director General of police operations and a number of other departmental directors of Sharjah Police, and the media.
Brigadier Amer took the opportunity to thank the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs of the emirate on the prominent unlimited role they play in supporting and strengthening security throughout the emirate, and for their close cooperation with the Sharjah Police.
On his part, Sheikh Al Qasimi thanked the launch of the initiative and the police team's efforts since the MoU signing between the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs and the Sharjah Police in 2013, to strengthen the relationship and cooperation between the two for community service.
Sheikh Al Qasimi added: "The launch of the award as part of the initiatives is part of promoting the objectives of the suburbs in Sharjah and contributing to the preservation of security and safety in the community, as well as conducting studies for the prevention of crime, providing a safe environment and to educate people of the dangers of social deviations."
The initiative is part of the Ministry of Interior's strategy to enhance security and safety, and activating the communication and cooperation between the two parties, in order to serve the community services and achieve security and stability.
The new award is divided into five categories: the best suburb in Sharjah, the best family, best suburb for activities, best point of cooperation within the suburbs, and the best social figure.
