He also stabbed three other workers, leaving them with serious injuries
In the first incident, on February 5, the man knocked at the door of the victim saying he was from the municipality and wanted to check the flat. As the woman opened the door, he raped her.
The victim's husband on returning home found the woman unconscious. He informed the police and the woman was rushed to hospital where she received treatment in the ICU. Later, the victim and her husband left the country for good.
Two months later, a similar incident took place in the same area, when the attacker knocked at the door of another Indian woman, and then raped her.
The incident caused panic among members of the Indian community living in Al Yarmouk area.
The police launched a massive manhunt to nab the accused and managed to arrest the Arab national whose DNA test proved he had raped the two Indian women.
During his interrogation, the suspect confessed to his crime. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.
Commenting on the case, Brig. Humaid Al Hadidi, Director General of Sharjah Police, said the arrest of the man would make the residents of the area feel more confident about their safety and security.
