Saudi tourists told to be careful in Turkey

Saudi citizens who are currently on holiday in Turkey have been urged to take extra caution and avoid crowded areas in the west Asian country that saw a failed coup attempt over the weekend.
The advisory was issued by Saudi Embassy in Ankara through its official Twitter account.

According to local Saudi news outlets, Saudi officials are working 24/7 in Turkey, the embassy statement said, urging anyone who is in need of help to contact the embassy in Ankara or the consulate in Istanbul.
Turkey is one of the top tourist destinations for Saudis and Arab countries in the Middle East. The number of Saudis visiting Turkey increased by 30 percent in 2015 to reach more than 450,000, according to Turkish statistics.
However Arab News reported that, Saudi tourists seemed unconcerned by the failed military coup in Turkey, many taking videos and sending them to family members back home.
Saudi Gazette also reports that, Saudi Arabian Airlines has sent a flight from Jeddah to Istanbul to bring home Saudi nationals from Turkey.
The report goes on to add that another five flights will operate between Saudi Arabia and Turkey, with two flights between Jeddah and Istanbul and one between Riyadh-Istanbul, Madinah-Istanbul, Dammam-Istanbul.
