When the police patrol saw a bank customer, identified only as OH, chasing the gang in Al Qasimia area, they immediately joined him in the chase and managed to arrest the three gang members.

The accused had robbed Dh14,000 from OH and were running away when the victim chased them.

Narrating the event, the victim told the police that one of the arrested gang members approached him with an offer to check if the bundle of money he had just withdrawn was genuine or fake.

But while pretending to check the bundle, he pulled out Dh14,000 and handed over the rest of the bundle him. The victim, who discovered the fraud, started chasing him. The fleeing man was joined by another person later.

The police searched the three arrested persons and found the stolen money in the pockets of one of the accused who confessed to the crime.

During the investigation they also confessed that they had committed several robberies during the past two months.

The police also searched their residences and seized huge amounts of cash stolen from many bank customers.

Police sources told Khaleej Times that the police stations had received many complaints about robberies from the bank customers during the last two months.

The police said they had organised awareness campaigns to educate bank customers on precautions to be taken while withdrawing money from the banks.
