Photographers and those interested to participate in the competition must register online. The competition website provides comprehensive information and details on the competition in four languages; Arabic, English, French and German.

EPC aims to promote photographic arts in the United Arab Emirates, by stimulating and attracting the largest possible number of photographers, through nurturing young talents and support professionals by organizing specialized workshops, master class, forums, interactive seminars, and organizing personal and collective exhibitions inside and outside the country. The competition is also working on collecting art works and displaying them in all possible ways.

Each year EPC chooses a main theme that urges photographers to work on untapped aspects in addition to four other themes.

The competition celebrates in its fifth session one of the most important Arab symbol in optics, physics ,engineering, astronomy and philosophy, the scientist and philosopher, Hassan Ibn Al Haytham Al Basari (965 – 1038) due to his inventions that represent the importance of light, science and optics, which lead to inventing the camera. The fifth season main theme is inspired by one of Al Basari’s titles (Prince of Light). Other themes are general such as: images of nature, Portraits, journalist photo, silent nature and abstraction.
