Addressing a large gathering at a function held to mark the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) at the residence of a prominent businessman, Professor Rahman, who is also the principal of Darulaloom Naeemiya, Karachi, said that all earlier prophets had knowledge about the arrival of the Last Prophet.
Prof Rahman said he used to keep fast on Mondays to thank God. The Prophet (peace be upon him) led a life of a shepherd, sewed his own clothes, mended his shoes like a common person.
On the other hand, he was a great statesman for humankind.
"All these aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet are on record for us as an example to follow," he said.
The Holy Prophet always practised whatever he preached. Giving examples, Prof Rahman said, during the Hajjatul Wida, the Prophet forgave those who had taken revenge on his relatives, setting an example for all Muslims.
Prof Rahman said that the Holy Quran called for peace, which was evident from the fact that during the Muslim rule, peace prevailed all over the world.
"His is a pure character in the history of the world," he concluded.
