Premier visits art show, lauds work of Bahraini artists

The Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition has become a well-recognised regional and international event, Bahrain's Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said while opening the 42nd edition of the Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition in the presence of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa and other dignitaries.
The prime minister said that over the years the increasing number of participating artists indicates the expo's prestigious reputation, in terms of preparation and organisation.
The premier went around the exhibiton to see pavilions and was informed about the 87 paintings and artistic works. He admired the Bahraini artists' masterpieces, experiences and creative techniques, and said that this year's edition maintained its glamour and showcased the creativity of Bahraini artists.
The premier said that the Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition has become an annual platform where reputed artists and fine art lovers meet, adding that it reflects the Bahraini society's artistic taste and keenness on using art to promote Bahrain's cultural and artistic identity.
Key meeting on heart care
The Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular Reviews will be held in Bahrain on January 27 to 30 under the patronage of President of the Supreme Council of Health and Chairman of the High Medical Committee Lt. General Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in association with the Mohammed bin Khalifa Cardiac Centre (MKCC).
This is the third year that this international meeting is being held in Bahrain, with last year attracting more than 270 international and local physicians.
Twelve speakers from the Mayo clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, will give 34 speeches covering all aspects of cardiovascular medicine including coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease, electrical abnormalities of the heart, as well as the latest surgical and interventional procedures related to the heart.
The faculty's experts are world renowned in the field of cardiovascular medicine and have been providing this extensive course for the last 20 years in Rochester.
SCW holds seminar for women entrepreneurs
The general secretariat of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) has held a seminar for Bahraini women entrepreneurs and businesswomen at Women's Competence Development Centre (Riyadat).
The seminar targets learning about suggestions of Riadat's beneficiaries in respect of the optimum use of services and facilitations provided by Riyadat center, as well as training programmes that contribute to developing their skills in preparation for getting engaged in self-employment.
Bahrain hosts Invest in Culture Conference
Bahrain hosted an international conference on cultural investments under the theme "Investing in Culture: business and social impact" last week.
The event was organised by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (baca) in cooperation with French Foundation "THINKERS and DOERS " and the Manama-based Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage.
The conference was held at the Bahrain National Theatre, Bahrain National Museum and the Regional Centre of the Arab World Heritage Site.
More than 300 investors, officials and decision-makers in the field of culture attended the event that discussed investing in culture and its impact on social and economic advancement and the importance in achieving sustainable development.
The conference aimed to open channels of discussions among artist and representatives of financial institutions on the importance of investing in culture.
Baca targets holding strategic partnerships with the private sector through the event. Workshops, discussion sessions in the cultural field was held on the sidelines of the event. In addition Bahrain Musical Band held a musical show led by Maestro Maysa Jonoshi.
