Parents appeal for aid

ABU DHABI - Sri Lankan parents of a six-year-old boy have appealed to kind-hearted people here to extend a helping hand for their son, Anuque Perera, who suffers from bone cancer that requires urgent treatment abroad.

Anuque, the Grade II student, fell sick in January and after a month of investigation a bone marrow transplant was carried out on him.

An oncology specialist in Sri Lanka advised Anuque be taken abroad for treatment. The boy was taken to Australia where he underwent various medical tests and was discovered with a tumour in the abdomen, the cause of his bone cancer. Anuque's case requires immediate treatment. To proceed with the treatment, parents have to arrange a balance sum of Dh170,000, which they wish to garner from philanthropists and charity people.
