The accident happened around midnight and the victim succumbed to his injuries four hours later in Khalifa Hospital.

Also injured in the incident was the car driver, 19-year-old Imran Nawab Dad.

A police source told Khaleej Times that Imran was driving the car that bore an Umm Al Quwain number plate. He lost control over the car which hit the Land Rover being driven by one Khalfan Mohammed Khalfan.

The teenager’s car, after hitting the Land Rover, smashed into an electric pole and a signal.

The car then knocked down Asif Khaja who was walking on the road divider, causing him severe injuries and bleeding.

A police source from Al Humaidia police station said the car involved in the accident belongs to Ruqqahia Nuwab, the teenager’s sister. “The car was not insured and the driver was not carrying a driving licence,” he said.
