Over 100 Infiltrators Held in Crackdown

SHARJAH - The Department of Naturalisation, Residency and Exits Affairs nabbed 113 infiltrators and violators in Sharjah over the past three days.

An Asian was also arrested for giving shelter and job to 38 infiltrators.

Major General Nasser Al Menhali, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Department, Ministry of Interior, pledged to pursue the night and day campaigns against suspicious dens harbouring remains of infiltrators and violators in order to arrest them and those who offer refuge to them.

In the last crack down, 31 Asian infiltrators and an Arab national who harboured them were apprehended. The Arab man was sentenced to two months in prison and fined. He will be deported after serving his jail term.

Any persons found guilty of employing or harbouring an infiltrator will be jailed for two months and fined Dh100,000 as per the federal law for entry and residency of foreigners.

An employer will be fined Dh50,000 for recruiting a foreigner not under his sponsorship.
