One Killed, 13 Injured in Two Accidents

RAS AL KHAIMAH - One person died and at least thirteen others sustained injuries in two accidents in Ras Al Khaimah, on Saturday evening.

Col. Hassan Al Jeeda who heads the Traffic Patrol Section at the Traffic and Licensing Department in Ras Al Khaimah said, a 23-year-old Pakistani, Mohammed Taheer, was hit by a speeding vehicle on Al Rams Road as he was trying to cross the road.

Police detained the driver and he was referred to the Public Prosecution.

In another incident, 13 persons including young children sustained both major and minor injuries when a truck rammed into a 4WD on Emirates Road near the Al Twawin roundabout in Ras Al Khaimah.

All the victims including eight members of an Emirati family who were travelling to Ras Al Khaimah in their 4WD were admitted to Saqr government hospital.

According to Al Jeeda, the Asian truck driver hit the 4WD when changing lanes.
