Now jog on Dh7.4 million pathway in Sharjah

Sharjah - The all new pathway and cycling trail, to be inaugurated before the end of this year

Jogging, walking, and cycling lovers will have a new facility by the end of this year as announced by the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Tuesday morning.
Eng Yusuf Al Suwaihi, Chairman of the RTA Sharjah, said the all new pathway and cycling trail, to be inaugurated before the end of this year, stood at Dh7.4 million.
"The project, in line with the massive urban growth all over the emirate, will be an added value to the visitors of the National Park which is located after the Sharjah International Airport."
RTA Sharjah, considering that the emirate has become the first health capital in the region, has adopted the project to also promote sports facilities in all residential districts here, he added.
"The highest sustainability, health and environment standards have been observed in the project to ensure an exceptional sports experience and encourage fitness and exercise among members of the society."
Eng Suleiman Al Hajiri, Director General RTA Sharjah for roads affairs, said two separate routes have almost been built along the backside of the National Park on the Sharjah Dhaid road opposite Al Qaraen area 1 and 2. "The first, made of rubber, is for walking while the other, made of asphalt, is for cycling."
Elaborating, he said the rubber footpath and cycling trail are each 2.2km long and 3m wide. "A middle road island, 2.5m wide, has been built to separate the two passages for safety grounds."
Up to 120 LED-powered lights and lampposts have been installed along the new track, he stated. "These are apart from another isle or roadside of tile, 1.8m wide, next to the wall of the National Park."
The project, is in line with the directions of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, is to meet the current and expected needs of the urban expansion of the emirate," he pointed out. "RTA Sharjah Call Centre is reachable 24/7 at (600525252) for feedbacks, inquiries, remarks and complaints."
