No incidents reported during New Years Eve celebrations in Dubai

Over two million people from around the globe gathered across the emirate to partake in the celebrations.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, said the New Year's celebrations were a great success, and no traffic or security violations were reported, thanks to unwavering efforts of the ESC (Events Security Committee) overseeing the celebrations with participation of 40 entities from all concerned sectors.
"No incidents, security breaches or injuries were reported during the New Year's celebration. Other than that, more than two million people from around the globe gathered across the emirate to participate in the celebrations," Al Marri added.
Al Marri also expressed the committee's gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, after he took to Twitter to commend team for their handling of the event,
"Millions of people celebrated in Dubai yesterday, hundreds of millions watched the celebrations, and it was easy and seamless. We thank the unknown soldiers behind hosting such a successful event. Dear event organising committee, I am always proud of you." Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.
For his part, Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Chairman of ESC, also thanked the rest of the police departments that had kept an eye on the security situation throughout Dubai.
Al Mazroui added that the ESC had announced a comprehensive plan to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow during the New Year's Eve celebrations. He highlighted that the Dubai Police deployed 4,000 officers and 2,000 patrol teams across the emirate to manage security and ensure the safety of everyone during the celebrations.
The Dubai Police had also allocated 12,000 surveillance cameras that monitored venues and residential areas within the vicinity.
