New Bridge to Open in Abu Dhabi Next Year

ABU DHABI - A new bridge will open for traffic in the third quarter of next year, Falah Al Ahbabi, general manager of Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council, said.

Shaikh Zayed Bridge will link the Raha beach area to Khaliffa City.

Salam Street and Salam Tunnel which are under construction now will also be opened in the third or fourth quarter of next year.

These construction works are often cited as the main reason for the traffic congestion in the city.

The Faisal Ahmed Al Suwaidi, director general, Highways, Department of Transport announced that the two-lane Mafraq-Ghuwaifat highway upto the border of Saudi Arabia will be expanded into four lanes by 2015.
