According to court records, the expatriate accused murdered a woman neighbour and threw her body in the garbage room. Charging him with premeditated murder, the prosecution had prayed that the man be punished in consonance with the Shariah and the federal penal code rulings.

The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance had sentenced him to life imprisonment, which was upheld by the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of Appeal.

The apex court, however ignoring the defendant's plea, reduced the convict's jail term.
