The Ajman Department of Economic Development (ADED) has stepped up market inspections to ensure that vendors don't jack up prices ahead of Eid Al Adha. The authority said it would also ensure that the markets are free of low-quality products.
A top official said the inspections would ensure market stability and protect consumer rights.
"We are carrying out a series of control and awareness campaigns at the livestock and fruit and vegetable markets," said Maher Buti Alsuwaidi, Manager of Consumer Protection Section. "Vendors will be alerted about the need to observe the highest transparency standards while doing business - clear announcement of prices and issuing purchase invoices. This will prevent customer exploitation amid the high demand for goods during Eid Al Adha."
He called on consumers to contact the ADED on 80070 to report any violations of their rights.
