Man pleads not guilty of rape
DUBAI — A Pakistani driver, W.B., 28, yesterday pleaded before the Criminal Court of First Instance not guilty to the charge of molesting a Filipina visitor .
The Filpina, L.B., 25, testified during interrogations that around 8.30pm on March 10 this year, she received a call from W.B. to meet him at BurJuman Centre. As W.B. was the boyfriend of her friend, she thought they would be coming together.
"I was, however, surprised to see him coming alone. I told him I had to go but he insisted that I stayed pretending he needed some advice.
"We went to the Dubai Creek and walked for a while. He offered to drop me at my place in Muraqqabat area. On the way, he said had to pick up something from Jaddaf area. He parked the vehicle near a warehouse. He went into the warehouse but came back soon. He suddenly began to make advances and harassed me sexually. On the way back, W.B. apologised to me and asked me not to tell anybody about what had happened."
