Man jailed, fined for swallowing hashish
FUJAIRAH — The Khorfakkan Criminal Court on Monday sentenced a man to 10 years in jail and fined him Dh50,000 after the court found him guilty of possessing and using hashish.
The court case dates back to August when MA, who was taken into custody over a drug case, took advantage of a police officer’s distraction — the latter was busy writing down the investigation records at the eastern region police directorate — and swallowed the piece of hashish seized, in an attempt to escape the charge.
The accused was then moved to the hospital where he received first aid.
A report about the occurrence was put forward to the security bodies after which the accused was referred to the prosecution which charged him with possessing narcotics and taking a police officer by surprise by swallowing the drug. —news@khaleejtimes.com
