DUBAI — The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced a Nigerian expatriate, A.A, to 14 months in jail, followed by deportation, for stealing and buying goods with counterfeit currency.
The court has also ordered the man to pay a fine of Dh5,000, along with the value of the stolen goods he had bought with counterfeit currency. As per court records, the Nigerian man had been captured on hidden video cameras stealing some costly perfumes and creams and concealing them in his jacket at the Dubai International Airport Duty Free.
When searched, he offered to pay money against the goods he stole. But the currency he paid was found to be counterfeit.
