Make way for ambulances, police patrols

ABU DHABI — The Deputy Commander of Abu Dhabi Police, Major-General Obaid Al Hiri Al Kutbi, has urged motorists to give way on the roads to ambulance and police patrol vehicles in order to avoid causing hindrance to public services.

Maj-Gen Al Kutbi's made this appeal during a visit to the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police yesterday.

He praised the efforts of the police towards raising traffic safety awareness and providing the best services.

Maj-Gen Al Kutbi toured the departments, including traffic engineering, traffic safety and accidents investigation sections where he was briefed about the progress of work and services provided to the public.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Police yesterday announced plans to celebrate International Day on Fight Against Drugs titled "Drugs Mean You End. Never Start!" on June 26.

Lieutenant-Colonel Sultan Al Darmaki, Head of Drugs Enforcement Department in Abu Dhabi Police, appreciated the efforts UAE is making to combat drugs in coordination with regional and international agencies.

Major Saeed Al Khajah, Deputy Director of Mass Media and Public Relations Admininstration, stressed the importance of dealing with the economic and social causes of addiction.

He stated that Abu Dhabi is fully prepared for the event that will last for a whole week in both Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The programme includes awareness presentations, plays on drugs and distribution of brochures among the public.
