He was delivering a speech during concluding ceremony of patrol officials training course which was held in Al Roya.

The international gang, he said, started its operations in 2004 and went about their operations across Europe after developing their networks. He, however, added that Dubai police is optimistic about tracking down these culprits.

"We will make sure the Wafi heist would be their last operation. We are making all possible efforts to put them behind the bars," Lt.-Gen. Dhahi said.

In the daring armed robbery the gang escaped with jewellery worth Dh54 million from a retail outlet from Wafi City last Sunday.

Dubai Police have been on high alert since the incident occurred to trace the culprits and the loot. Keeping the Wafi robbery in mind, Dubai Police will organise specialised training courses for its squad to deal with incidents like these, Dhahi disclosed.

"The physical and mental training of police officials, especially the patrol teams, is important.

Then only, they will be able to react in emergencies like this," he stressed.

Dubai in UAE is one of the safest places in the world, he said, and the security personnel will ensure a healthy and safe environment for all the investors.
