"It has become consumerist. It's common knowledge that, nowadays, advertising rates rocket during the Holy Month of Ramadan, with most of the companies spending as much as 50-60% of their annual budget during this period alone. It's not a good thing, because this month is about prayer and being generous."

"From my point of view, Ramadan is a month of blessing, so I partially agree to it becoming consumerist, because with its promotions and sales it has become more of a marketing strategy. But I only partially agree, because these low prices are helpful for those who normally have a tight budget."

"Ramadan has become consumerist in the modern society; it makes us forget the true meaning of the Holy Month, i.e. giving. It is the Holy Month where people look forward to giving Zakat and other forms of charity. Today, many corporations use this month to persuade people to buy their products or services. It's really bad, because people forget what Ramadan is really about. But it can also be good because the offers are actually meant to let people get more at a lesser price."
