He was working on the 26th floor of the building when the incident happened, killing him on the spot.
The deceased, who has been identified as K.M, was 24 years old.
His body has been shifted to forensic laboratory for further investigations.
According to Sharjah Police, the construction company had not provided enough safety equipment to the workers, who were without helmets and safety belts when the scaffolding collapsed.
“He (the worker) was involved in the exterior works of the building when the scaffolding collapsed,” Sharjah Police said in a Press statement.
In similar incident on April 21, an Indian worker had died and two other workers had a close shave when a scaffolding collapsed at another under-construction building in Sharjah.
The deceased, Sanjay, 33, apparently fell through the lift opening and succumbed to his injuries in Kuwaiti Hospital two hours after the accident.
Another incident was reported on April 22 where three Asian workers died after falling from the 10th floor of an under-construction building on King Faisal Street in Sharjah. Brig Mohammed Al Shamsi, Duty Officer at Al Buahairah Police Station, said that most of these incidents could be attributed to lack of safety equipment such as seat belts, helmets etc. at the work sites.
