Kumar was found lying unconscious and bleeding profusely by a fellow worker at the factory where he worked as a carpenter.
The management alerted the police who immediately arrived at the spot and rushed the victim to Al Qasimi Hospital.
The police found a knife lying near the injured worker. It was yet to be determined whether the worker was stabbed by someone or the wound was self-inflicted.
Emad Mahmoud, spokesman of the company, said, "Kumar has been in the company and the country for only six days. His fellow workers hardly knew him."
He added that Kumar was polite. "Nobody observed any kind of any abnormalities in his behaviour. We can't say whether he is suffering from a mental disorder."
Ismat Khan, a colleague, said, "Ever since he arrived, he had been working all the time and hardly talking to anyone."
Doctors at Al Qasimi Hospital said his condition was stable and the bleeding had stopped.
