The mass wedding is organised by the Marriage Fund, under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs.
Speaking at a Press conference held yesterday at the Fund premises in Abu Dhabi, Saif Obeid Al Khaili from the BCG said that mass weddings like this were an effort to boost government efforts to assist young national men to marry national women, strengthen the social fabric of the UAE society, and fight wrong social practices like extravagance and high dowries.
Khaili praised the Fund and its unique role in encouraging and supporting national men marry national women and discourage and bring down the number of marriages of locals to foreign women.
He said the BCG is ready to sponsor wedding ceremonies for up to 500 couples at a time. “We are planning to help organise other marriage ceremonies for hundreds of young national males and females.”
Jamal bin Obeid Al Bah, General Manger of the Fund lauded national institutions, corporations and businessmen for contributing in generating funds for the organisation.
