Firm pays wages as MoL intervenes

SHARJAH — A direct and timely intervention by Ministry of Labour (MoL) officials solved the problem of over 400 Asian workers of a Dubai-based company who said they had not been paid their salary for the past three months.

An MoL source said, following the refusal of these workers to report for duty on Saturday, the company management was contacted and directed to immediately clear their salary arrears. The delighted workers, who have also been demanding a pay hike, resumed their duties yesterday.

Meanwhile, he added, a company management source claimed that the salaries had got delayed because, “a company official responsible for distributing the salary to workers failed to do so for three months. Instead, he embezzled the money and absconded.”
