An unnamed Filipino male expat died after undergoing an illegal cosmetic procedure, an official from the Philippine Consulate in Dubai told Khaleej Times on Wednesday night.
No further details were given pending investigation and autopsy but the Philippine mission has issued a warning to all Filipino expats not to engage the services of unlicensed practitioners.
"The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates reminds all Filipinos not to transact with persons who are unlicensed to provide medical services especially cosmetic procedures which may result to injury, disability or death," read the statement.
Philippine consul Ferdinand Flores said they received the report from a Filipino community leader in Ras Al Khaimah.
"The official cause of death was not yet revealed but the Filipino expat, who was in his mid-20s, was allegedly given an injection for chest augmentation," Flores said.
After receiving the injection the victim was rushed to a hospital in RAK where he died.
"We have issued the advisory to give our kababayans (compatriots) fair warning as there have been reports of proliferation of this illegal medical services in the northern emirates," Flores stressed.
