In a shocking turn of events, a father has been arrested for raping and sodomising his daughter for 15 months.
According to a story in the Hindustan Times, the class 7 girl was subjected to abuse when her mother was not at home. The father threatened the 12-year-old to not tell anyone. The incident occurred in the suburbs of Mumbai.
It was only after he travelled out of town a week ago that the victim confided in her mother.
A case has been lodged with the police under section 376 and 377 of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act 2012.
He has been remanded in police custody till August 24, 2017.
