Dubai Women Association (DWA) media coordinator Fatima Al Sari says that following the instructions of Shaikha Amina Al Tayer, Chairperson of the DWA, officials and DWA members are trying to maintain a positive atmosphere for women candidates.

Dr Fatima Al Falasi, Director General of the DWA, adds that the association is providing its halls and auditoriums for women candidates to organise their election campaigns.

“These halls are equipped with modern sound systems for delivering speeches to the public.”

She says the presence of women in the FNC is an important step towards women’s progress and it is a great advantage for women in the UAE.

An official from the Sharjah Family Supreme Council (SFSC) says following the directives of its President, Shaikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, the SFSC has contributed a great deal to helping women play a proactive role in public life.

“Today, there are 280 women fighting this election from Sharjah and its rural areas. This shows how women in the emirate have moved towards the path of progress and democracy.”

Fatima Al Matroushi, Director General of the Umm Al Momineen Women Association in Ajman, says, “We also encourage women to vote for women candidates who will address social and family issues in the FNC.”
