Earlier this week, bulldozers and backhoes pounded more than two dozen seized luxury cars in the Philippines including Porsches, Mercedes, Jaguars and Corvettes, in a dramatic demolition showcasing the no-nonsense leader's crackdown on crime and corruption.
President Rodrigo Duterte watched as the second-hand vehicles, with a total value of 61,626,000 pesos (Dh4.4 million approx), were reduced to piles of scrap in a little over three minutes.
There's just one problem - some of the cars from earlier reports were not among the ones up for wrecking. These 'missing' cars include a McLaren 720S, a Lamborghini Gallardo and Murcielago and a Ferrari F430.
A report by GMA News Online dated January 8, 2018 shows these supercars that were seized by the Bureau of Customs. Further reporting by the Philippine Star  also show these cars and the story goes on to say that they will be among the cars that were crushed during the 116th anniversary celebration of the customs bureau last Tuesday. But on the day, none of the supercars went under the bulldozer.
Instead, photos show a Corvette Stingray, BMWs, Porsches and a Mercedes. Sure, these cars also cost a pretty penny, but where are the supercars that authorities said will be crushed?
The whereabouts of these supercars cannot be verified but one this is certain - they weren't crushed last Tuesday.
