Loud cheers of 'Happy Birthday' reverberated across the museum inside the Dubai Police Academy, and tunes played by Dubai Police Band wafted through the air.

It was a surprise birthday celebration for Avonso Dorso, who had just turned 8. And the child was overjoyed to get all the attention while being showered with love.

The bash was organised by the Dubai Police after Avonso's mother -- Marta -- expressed to them her wish to see the birthday of her child, who wants to become a policeman, being celebrated in the museum. It was an out-of-the-ordinary wish, but the Dubai Police respected it and went an extra mile to ensure the occasion becomes a memorable one.

Lt Col Mansour Mansouri, head of the Dubai Police Museum, said Marta was visiting the new museum with her family and made a request to the police to allow her to surprise her child by throwing a birthday party in the museum square.

The mother's request was directly sent to Major Dr Mohammed Ahmed bin Fahd, assistant commander-in-chief for academic affairs, who ordered to fulfll her wishes, in accordance with the directives of Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police.

Maj Gen Ibn Fahad ordered the police to extend all possible help to ensure that the boy feels happy and enjoys every moment of it. The academy provided everything required to celebrate the occasion, with the Dubai Police Band and the luxury cars of the Tourism Department adding flavour to the event. The birthday boy was cheered at and his schoolmates took photographs with the cars.

Visibly delighted, Marta thanked the Dubai Police for its exceptional effort and said it would be a memory that she and her child would treasure throughout their lives.
