The officers said the man, an Asian, was caught following a tip off that he had one kilogramme of hashish. An investigation team was assigned to handle the case.

A police undercover agent posed as a potential buyer and contacted the suspect. A trap was laid to arrest the accused red-handed.

Police said the man was caught at the delivery point with 20 grammes of hashish in his possession. The hashish was concealed in his car.

Police said the seized hashish was part of a packet he was planning to sell. On interrogation, the suspect said he had come from a neighbouring country to the UAE on a visit visa. He said he had brought the drugs from his country.

He will be referred to the public prosecutor's office for charges to be filed against him.
