Double-decker tourist bus service in Lahore

In an attempt to boost tourism, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has inaugurated a tourist double-decker bus service at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore.
The chief minister visited the bus terminal, and travelled in the double-decker after purchasing a ticket. The newly-introduced bus service, which will take visitors to Lahore's historical monuments, will operate from Gaddafi Stadium to Minar-e-Pakistan with proper security arrangements and trained staff.
Talking to media, Shahbaz Sharif said the double-decker buses, which disappeared from the streets of Lahore and other cities of Punjab about four decades ago, had been revived to promote tourism.
Service will be free for senior citizens, children below the age of 10 and disabled persons, said the chief minister, adding students will be charged Rs100 while common citizens Rs200.
Emphasising on the service's utility, he said besides foreign tourists, citizens of Lahore and other Pakistani cities will have recreational tour of Lahore through the double-decker buses. - news@khaleejtimes.com
