Preparations are on, in accordance with a specially-laid plan for the coming academic year - a plan which incorporates many innovative improvements, with the goal to continue to offer exemplary medical and health care services to students.

Dr Al Jili Qurshi, In-charge of the School Health Section, said his section begins preparations for the academic year long before it starts, with the aim of incorporating improvements based on comments and suggestions gathered from people during the previous academic year.

“With the start of each new school year, we get a clear idea of the number of new schools that have come up and the number of students in all of Dubai’s schools, based on which we prepare our plan of action. Preparations include comprehensive medical check-ups for students conducted by each school’s doctor to discover any medical condition early and transfer the patient to the relevant clinic in order to expedite treatment and cure,” Dr Qurshi said.

According to Dr Qurshi, the school health section’s health plan also includes carrying out weight, height and body mass index exams for all students to determine the amount of growth. The section also prepares for the annual vaccination programme to meet the needs of all schools with the required vaccines such as polio, hepatitis, measles, whooping cough and others.
