DM assures smooth delivery of services

DUBAI — The new-look Dubai Municipality Centre in Karama was reopened yesterday at the hands of DM‘s Director-General Qassim Sultan.

The centre will offer almost all civic services for residents in the nearby areas, taking some pressure off the civic body's headquarters in Deira.

The municipality, in a bid to decentralise its services and felicitate a smooth and easy delivery of the same, has set up branch centres in Umm Suqeim, Al Towar, Al Rashidiya and Hatta, apart from Karama.

"Being a major driving force behind the city's development process, the municipality is keen to improve the delivery of civic services to its customers in the best possible ways," Sultan said after cutting the ribbon to re-open the centre which underwent renovation to accommodate a host of new civic services.

Also present on the occasion were Hussein Lootah, Deputy Director-General of the Municipality; Obaid Salim Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for Administrative Affairs and General Services; Mohammed AbdulKarim Julfar, Assistant Director-General for Financial and Properties Affairs; Abdullah Raffia, Assistant Director-General for Environment and Public Health Affairs; Essa Al Maidour, Assistant Director-General for General Projects Affairs; Khalid Ali bin Zayed, Director of the Municipality Centres Department; and a number of senior officials of the municipality.

The centre, which will open its doors for customers both in morning and evening shifts, offers a variety of civic services including various transactions related to municipal fees, fines, food establishments, environment inspection, public health, drainage, irrigation, building licensing, engineering supervision, and waste services, apart from services of the Car Parking Department and Public Transport Department of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.

As for the facility to pay municipal fee, the centre would receive fees for hotels and hotel apartments, parking fines, environment fines, apart from the refund of security deposits and sale of prepaid parking cards.
