Dandiya nights begin

DUBAI — The nine-day Indian festival of Navaratri began in Dubai last night with youngsters dancing to ‘dandiya’ beats and the sounds of ‘dhol’. The festival will run until October 21 at the Zabeel Park, Area ‘C’ Gate No. 5.

Around 10,000 to 12,000 people on weekdays and 15,000 on weekends are expected to take part in the dancing extravaganze which starts at 10.30pm and goes on till 2.00am on weekdays and till the wee hours in the morning on weekends.
