The Cartoon Surprises Week, starting from June 26-July 2, is bound to captivate children and adults alike and keep them entertained throughout the 10-week long Dubai Summer Surprises 2003, according to a Press release.
Cartoon Surprises - supported by the Dubai Ports Authority - will give visitors a chance to see and interact with the cartoon characters including Pink Panther, Spiderman, the Simpsons, Teletubbies, puppets and a whole lot more.
Addressing a Press conference at the Emirates Towers Hotel yesterday, Anwar Wajdi, Chief Commercial Director at the DPA, said that the main objective of organising and sponsoring the Cartoon Surprises Week is to instil the spirit of joy as well as create awareness among our youth and people.
Deema Hussain, Head of the Exhibitions and Promotions and Head of Organising Committee, Cartoon Surprises, said that the opening ceremony - to be staged at Modesh fun city - will mark by use of the latest audio and visual effects and the launch of an exclusive web site www.cartoon.ae that will include puzzles and games for children. All cartoon characters will be present at the opening ceremony to provide entertainment.
As part of Cartoon Surprises, DPA has introduced a charming cartoon character Captain Hamad who will take children around the port to shed light on the DPA operations in an entertaining way.
Elaborating on the course of activities during the week, Hussein said many of the activities were targeted at children in the age group of 5-16 and they included workshops, reading corners, a 3D cinema, Disney Movie magic, Smurfs Village, Toon Boom Studio and a whole lot more entertainment programmes line up.
Briefing on Capt. Hamad's Reading Corner, Hussein said that it was a story about two kids who were taken on a tour of Dubai by Capt. Hamad who introduced them to Dubai's modern lifestyle and landmarks. Capt. Hamad, accompanied by Modesh, also introduces them to the ports operating in the emirate.
Included in the activities is a live interactive programme titled 'ART Teenz Show' that will be held at the City Centre, Deira. Hussein also highlighted the committee's plans to visit hospitals especially children suffering from cancer and thalassemia on June 29.
"We want these children to enjoy DSS as any other child," she said.
DPA is being supported for this event by LG mobiles, Arab Digital Distribution (Al Awael), Al Sayegh Brothers Trading, Falcon Energy Drink, Oasis Water Company, Al Dana Jewellery Design and Manufacturing, Patchi, ART Teenz and Patchi.
