The real happiness is in sincerely following the teachings of the Holy Quran and Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him).
This has been affirmed by popular Saudi scholar Dr Sheikh Saeed bin Mesfir in the second lecture of the cultural programme of the 22nd Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA).
"Real faith should always be associated with a pure heart and righteous deeds," he said. "A true Muslim should be a source of happiness for all around him, including family, relatives, children, neighbours, and everybody."
One should always be tolerant and not easily angered, he advised. "Enjoy God's gifts and blessings, and help others enjoy them, particularly parents, family and relatives."
Major General Mohammed Saad Al Sharif, assistant chief commander of the Dubai Police for Management Affairs, said they are so keen to co-sponsor the activities of the award every year.
"Naming this year's edition after the late founding father Sheikh Zayed helps mark his legacy," he said, paying tributes to the organising committee for their relentless effort to make a success of the global competition.
Mahmoud Al Ali, head of listing and disclosures department at the Dubai Financial Market, said proudly sponsors all the initiatives nationwide. "The award has become a leading hub in the Islamic world in Quran memorisation."
Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni, director general of the Dubai Airports Free Zone, said the award attracts Quran memorisers from all over the world. "The zone is so keen to sponsor the award activities every year," he said, thanking the organising committee for their effort to make an astounding success of its activities.
Ibrahim Mohamed Bu Melha, adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and head of DIHQA Organising Committee, later honoured Dr Sheikh Saeed bin Mesfir, and the sponsors of the event.
Othman Mohammed, of the people of determination, was also honoured for suggesting the placement of the 'Year of Zayed' logo on the badges of DIHQA staffers. Cash and in-kind gifts were then presented to the audience based on a raffle draw.
