In an effort of promoting innovative ideas, Dubai Municipality showcased key smart projects to encourage the community's contribution in the field of technology.
The exhibition, held in line with UAE Innovation Week, aims to make innovation a part of communities and is being held with the slogan, "Innovation, an everyday activity".
The municipality displayed its apps Green Ticket, Makani App, Smart Gate that will allow residents to access parks through Nol Card, Odor Monitoring and Forecast Smart System and Sa'fat.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said the focus this year is on quality and Information Technology (IT).
"Customers and residents are the priority. The Innovation Week is a chance for us to open the doors for everyone to give in ideas and suggestions that will us improve our services," Lootah told Khaleej Times during his tour around the exhibition.
While the theme promotes technology, Lootah said: "We are in the digital era that needs quick services, and we look at the tools that will assist us in doing that."
According to Mohammed Ahmed Al Louz, Head of the Innovation and Suggestions Care Section, the aim is to raise awareness on key projects that had a clear impact on the community and encourage employees to come up with more innovative ideas.
"We measure the revenue gained by our current projects and honour all employees that were involved in them," said Al Louz.
The municipality will hold activities across the Innovation Week.
On Wednesday there will be an Innovation Forum that will see detailed presentation of the most important ideas that have been applied, the stages of the project and the difficulties that the application faces, and the most important results that have been achieved through the application of these ideas.
At the conclusion of Innovation Week on Thursday, Dubai Municipality will be honouring participants in the contest, "I am Innovator," which was attended by many employees and customers.
Employees who participated and won prizes in the regular Suggestion Scheme, will also be honoured during the occasion. There have been 18 ideas there were entered in the latest edition of the contest.
