The Alliance Francaise, the Italian Cultural Club and the Zayed University are joining hands to bring to Abu Dhabi residents ‘Chants de guerre parisien’ (‘Songs of Parisian war’).

The programme will feature renowned Italian tenor Joe Fallisi, accompanied by piano player Michelle Fedrigotti. For this concert, Fallisi has chosen 26 poems by three of France’s most admired poets - Baudelaire, Verlain and Rimbaud - for which he has composed operatic music.

Among them there are ‘The Fountain of blood’, ‘I haven’t forgotten’, ‘The Cat’ by Baudelaire, ‘Charleroi’, ‘The Pipe’ by Verlain and ‘The hands of Jeanne Marie’ and ‘Song of Parisian war’ by Rimbaud.

All three poets belonged to the late 19 century. They were part of the Symbolist movement and were often referred to as the Decadent poets.
