The medical centre is expected to become operational by 2006, he said, adding that the AUST Network is heading towards becoming one of the region's leading educational and research centre institutions through establishing the medical research centre that will benefit academic researchers in the region.

"The university's main philosophy is based on providing science students, medical professionals and researchers with the latest in their field and minimise their efforts and expenses to have the first hand information like their counterparts in other countries," added Dr Ali.

He disclosed that the expansion project was a difficult task, but will try and achieve the goal with dedication and good planning. "The establishment of the major facilities will take time as we are now in the first stage of studying the feasibility and shall very soon put the plan in execution," said Dr Ali.
