He said the web site will provide services like information about the registration number of vehicles booked for traffic violations and fine notification in both English and Arabic.

The vehicle’s re-registration number and index letter or the driving licence number of the motorist will be needed to find out how much money, if any, he/she owes in fines.

Motorists will not receive any notification by post anymore.

The web site will help motorists find out booking for traffic offences, if any, before going to renew their registration.

The new web site also facilitates communication with the public through e-mail. The police will announce the web site address and email ID through the local Press. The public can send suggestions, complaints and comments online.

Colonel Alwan said the web site will spread awareness about traffic safety and security steps. Announcements about the training programmes in computer sciences being provided by the Training and Development Centre of the police will also be posted on the web site.
