The gang members are all reported to have confessed to their crime.

The modus operandi of the gang was to break open the glass of the vehicles, and steal the valuables kept inside, like wallets, watches, mobile phones, cash etc.

Earlier, Khaleej Times had carried a story about how the gang had stolen valuables from a large number of cars in the holy month of Ramadan. They used to commit the act during the Taraweeh prayer (special Ramadan prayers in night time) hours.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Colonel Ali Abdullah Alwan, director general of Ajman Police, said the gang had also committed a number of thefts in the neighbouring emirates.

Col. Alwan added that the gang was busted when one of the members was caught red-handed while breaking open windows of a parked car in Mushairif area. This arrest led the police to his colleagues.
