Licences will now be issued for all kinds of businesses, including sheisha cafes to expatriates as well as nationals in order to attract a large number of investors in the emirate, according to Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Shaikh Rashid explained that the commercial licence for any kind of business used to be provided only to UAE nationals in Ajman and other emirates. It is now open to all expatriates of any nationality interested in running any kind of business that can serve the public in the emirate.
He said the decision is aimed at encouraging and promoting investment as well as providing best services for the consumers in the emirate. This decision was taken to cope with the emirate’s rapid development in terms of construction projects which include 30 residential towers as well as markets and restaurants. The emirate is currently witnessing great infrastructure development that has helped lure investors and increase the number of residents.
Shaikh Rashid explained that the number of businesses that provide various kinds of services are insufficient to satisfy the needs of the public, and so, the municipality has decided to grant licences for all businesses to investors to serve society as well as contribute to the emirate’s economic development. He said the municipality is also working on planning the redevelopment of many residential areas, including Al Bustan and Al Nuaimia districts, where many old houses were removed and roads widened so that many businesses could be established.
