According to court records, C.S. took advantage of 27-year-old Moldavian M.A.’s poverty and attempted to sell her to an undercover agent for Dh28,000.

Police officer M.M., 33, testified that he had been tipped off about a woman named C.S. who was involved in trafficking of women.

‘I coordinated with my contact to set her up. Hence, around 3pm on November 28 last year I headed for her residence in Mirdiff area. I was the presumed buyer of victim M.A. When I got there I saw C.S. negotiating with my contact person. I approached them and introduced myself saying that I was interested in buying M.A. The latter was sitting in the rear seat of my friend’s car. The defendant offered M.A. for Dh 28,000 saying that she had another 15-year-old pretty girl available for Dh35,000’ the police officer said.

The Ukrainian defendant is facing another charge of entering the UAE after being deported. The verdict is expected at the next hearing which is scheduled for March 18.
