Saif Salim Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of Ajman Municipality, said the demolition started a week ago as decided by the municipality. Notices were given to residents of the area six month ago.
The residents welcomed the project and extended full cooperation to the municipality as they knew that the development of the area will be beneficial for them.
The demolition has been currently undertaken in coordination with the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) which disconnects the power to houses ready for demolition. The 90 houses include old structures, dilapidated villas, as well as some deserted houses.
The area will be redeveloped and well-planned, modern buildings and streets will be built. Al Nakhil is one of the areas that is part of the Ajman municipality’s greater development plan. “The demolition work will be completed on July 1 and re-planning and reconstruction of the area will start soon,” he said.
Al Shamsi added that in a few months, the municipality will start demolition of Al Bustan, Sawan and Al Nakhil 3 areas as well.
