The Municipality of Ras Al Khaimah shut down five outlets, restaurants and cafeterias at different areas of the emirate last year. The shut down outlets were involved in grave violations that pose a risk to customers' health, according to a top official.
Munzir bin Shukr, Director General of the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, on Monday said the civic body deals with no tolerance with any food or health violations.
"Failing to obtain mandatory health cards for staff employees or selling expired food or unfit products were blamed for most of these closures," he said.
Official figures show that 1,885 out of 17,992 food and health institutions operating in the emirate were issued tickets in 2015 for flouting set rules and regulations.
