SHARJAH — A total of 164 people have been arrested during an inspection campaign in Sharjah from March 1 to 25 for violating residency laws, according to Lt.-Colonel Dr Abdullah Ali bin Sahowa, head of the Sharjah Naturalisation and Residency Department.
Those arrested included housemaids and private sector employees belonging to Asian nationalities.
Their cases were referred to the authorities concerned for legal action against them.
Lt -Colonel Mohammad Salim Mohammad, head of the observation and investigation section at the department, said that the inspection campaign would be intensified in various areas of Sharjah.
