1,500 students enrol for Holy Quran award

Ajman - The Quran competition has eight levels.

Almost 1,500 students (male and female) from government and private schools, of all grades and nationalities, have so far registered in the 7th edition of the 'Dar Al Ber Quran and Sunnah' Award for the year 2017.
The annual competition is organised by the Dar Al Ber Society (Dabs) in collaboration with the Ajman Education Zone, according to a top official.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, executive director at Dabs, said the initial tests of the popular competition will be held from April 16 to May 25. "More participants are expected this year in the contest initially launched in Ajman in 2011."
The contest is sponsored by Sheikha Fatima bint Zayed bin Saqr Al Nahyan, wife of the Ruler of Ajman and Chairperson of the Umm Al Moumineen Women's Association; and Dr Sheikh Majid bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, chairman, Ruler's Court, Ajman.
Bin Zayed added that the competition is meant to build up a well-mannered generation fully aware of the values of the Holy Quran and Sunnahs (traditions) of the Prophet. "Encouraging young people to memorise the Quran will have a positive impact on their life."
The contest adopts a moderate method to help create a highly qualified generation as advised by Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), and in line with the directives of the prudent leadership, he pointed out.
Khalid Abdulwahhab Al Khajah, Manager of Dabs - Ajman, and Chairman of the competition organising committee, said : "Dar Al Ber has brilliantly launched a new logo for the competition which it has also turned into an award."
"The new emblem features an open Mus'haf that indicates Quran recitation and memorisation, along with an Islamic decoration in the background, and a dome above the Mus'haf, reflecting the mosques."
The final tests will be held on April 30, whereas the concluding ceremony will be run on May 23 for male winners and May 24 for female toppers, he announced. "Participation is open for all students of private and government schools, of all grades and nationalities."
Al Khajah explained that the Quran competition includes eight levels. However, the Fiqh competition features three levels, starting from the 5th level this year, Al Khajah announced.
